Cambridge 9701 Paper 3 practical practice

Rehearse quantitative chemistry skills for AS & A Level practical work: make observations, record your titres and follow the calculation from your own results.

Set up exam-style practice

How FlaskLabs supports your preparation

The Past Paper mode pairs an interactive titration with original exam-style questions. Choose the Cambridge 9701 style in paper setup and select a full practice set or a focused practical. You record the readings and answer the questions; generated exercises let you repeat the skills with a different setup.

FlaskLabs currently concentrates on quantitative titration-based work, including acid–base, carbonate, redox and hydrated-material calculations. It does not simulate every part of the 9701 syllabus or reproduce the full range of tasks in an official Paper 3.

Skills to practise before the examination

  • Identify the known and unknown solutions and read the preparation information before starting.
  • Record initial and final readings with the units and precision requested by the exercise.
  • Separate rough and accurate runs, identify concordant titres and calculate an appropriate mean.
  • Convert cm³ to dm³, calculate moles and use the balanced equation’s mole ratio.
  • Account for aliquots, dilution and preparation steps when finding a concentration or hydration number.
  • Explain practical choices, sources of error and the effect of a mistake on the result.

A useful revision sequence

Learn the controls in Tutorial, practise a known reaction in Presets, then attempt questions without following a worked answer. Review both the experimental readings and the calculation steps. Repeat the skill you found difficult before moving to a different reaction family.

Our titration practice guide explains how a burette reading becomes a titre and includes a worked concentration calculation.

Original practice and official papers

The mode is called Past Paper in the app, but its generated questions are original practice material. They are not official Cambridge examination papers, predictions or complete replicas. FlaskLabs is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cambridge International Education or any examination board.

Use your current syllabus and teacher’s guidance for the examination requirements. Official materials are available from Cambridge International’s Chemistry 9701 page and its past papers and specimen papers.
